Ryan W. Ingram, MD, grew up less than ten minutes from the practice. He has always had a passion for the beach, music, sports, and academics. Earlier honors included being a 2-time city wrestling champion while at Landstown Middle School, and winning 3 state championships at Norfolk Academy. He followed his sister to the University of Virginia, graduating with majors in Biology and Commerce, and does still enjoy treating Virginia Tech fans-Go Hoos! He returned home to attend medical school and Psychiatry residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
While at the University of Virginia, he found guitar to be a wonderful stress-reliever and passion. This influence is seen in the practice with the Brazilian Koa floors and the Martin acoustic that always hangs in the waiting room. Music will always be playing and patients are encouraged to select their preferred genre/artist while waiting and grab a hot beverage from the Keurig or bottled water. Please don't break my Martin during a waiting room jam session!!!
While training in this community he has gained knowledge on available resources to patients of all ages and has treated veterans from WWII to younger soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and treats the full spectrum of psychiatric illness. His goal for the practice was to create a private, comfortable and therapeutic environment where patients could explore their mental health concerns and learn how to cope with stressful life events. Psychotherapy modalities range from supportive to cognitive-behavioral to psychodynamic, based on an individual patient's presentation.
Marie Delossantos, LPN, is the first person to greet you when arriving at Coastal Psychiatry. She is the practice nurse and practice manager. A natural at multi-tasking, she handles nursing care and daily office functions with ease. She is well versed in the practice policies and procedures and understands the importance of setting and maintaining high standards of care, while making sure that the patients feel valued and comfortable.
Like Dr. Ingram, Marie also grew up in Virginia Beach. Her passion for the medical field and for helping others is what influenced her to become a nurse. After graduating from nursing school, she started her career in the field of burn and trauma surgery. After 7 years in this complex and rewarding specialty, she transitioned to a career in weight loss surgery.
Through her experience, she has built the firm belief that mental health can impact who we are and who we become. Building self-esteem, increasing emotional awareness and understanding, and improving relationships can lead to healthy growth, improved sense of self, and a more meaningful life.
